We live in an interdependent world and the only way to move forward is to cooperate Kofi Annan said. If the world is getting better why does every thing feel so terrible?
The values of free thinking, free markets, and free trade have led to a historic reduction in global poverty, ever rising life expectancy and ascending IQ levels, undernourishment and maternal deaths are both down more than 40 percent since 1990.
All these has happened chiefly because countries from China to India to Ethiopia have adopted more market friendly policies. I know with this world statistical figure persons who didn’t know these would now see the greater good globalization has done rather than the problems.
In 2009 in the nadir of the great recession the elites who convened at Davos (World Economic Council) agreed that the solution to the failure of globalization was more globalization.
Donald Trump may call himself Mr Brexit, but Brexit and Trump are distinct expression of anger. But there is a good reason that commentators tend to lump together Trump and Brexit movement.
They are built to oppose rather than lead and right now it’s fair to say they are in shambles, unable to fulfill their nativity promises. In the UK prime minister Theresa May’s Brexit deal was voted down in humiliating fashion.
In the united states,Trump’s record breaking government shutdown led not to a wall but to declining poll numbers for the president
Right-wing nationalism is the solution that solves nothing.
What’s needed instead is a movement that doesn’t just succeed in outraging voters, but actually seeks to use government to address the source of their outrage.
In the united states those on the left are trying to build such a movement within the democratic party. What they seek in brief is to pay for universal programs with a new set of taxes for winners in the capitalist system.
What’s more taxing the rich to fund universal programs directly addresses middle-class insecurities caused by globalization-Unlike saying building a giant boarder wall.
If this movement is going to succeed, however, it will have to identify not only globalization problems but also its benefits. There is no question that free trade and increased immigration have reduced poverty and improved global living standard at a historic rate in the past 30 years
Its being heard in some quarters that China is a perfect example of an isolationist state. It would be a fallacy of fact to say China is an isolationist state.
With the advent of the 21st century China has been actively involved itself in global activities such as _
1. The creation of Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) on June 2001 in Shanghai
2. She has successfully hosted the 2008 summer Olympic games in Beijing
3. The Brazil-Russia-India-China-South Africa (BRICS) grouping first held it’s summit in June 2009.
The question that should come to any inquisitive reader’s mind is “If being an isolationist state was the best for China why are they going global?” This question is left for the opposing side to answer.
I end with this: “We live in an interdependent world and the only way to move forward is to cooperate “.
