The song was produced after K-Solo saw the beauty in it, when the a-capella version of the song was performed by Timaya. According to Timaya in an interview organized in August 2013, the song, Dem Mama, is an account of the scenario that took place in Niger Delta.
It is about the destruction of a community called Odi in Niger Delta, and his soldiers killed militants. Several people lost their lives, and the entire village was burnt to the ground. After the release of the song, Timaya gained the love of the street, and gained double credibility.
