Don Jazzy was born Michael Collins Ajere on the 6th of November, 1982, to a family in Ajegunle, Lagos State.

He was born and raised in Lagos State, Nigeria, and acquired basic education at the co-educational high school in Lagos state.

His love for music began at an early age of 12, when he took interest in playing a musical instrument, and learnt to play bass guitar.

Michael Collins Ajere found himself loving music, and he didn’t relent.

He trained himself in traditional and percussion musical instruments while growing up.

Don Jazzy applied to study Business Management Studies at the Ambrose Alli University, and was admitted to study this preferred course.

In the year 2000, Don Jazzy went on a visit to London, he was asked to play drums there at a local church by his Uncle in London.

Eventually, he got a job as a security guard at McDonald’s. However, his passion for music wasn’t put down.

He went on to venture music, being connected with Kas, D’banj, JJC, Solek, and other musically inclined personalities.

He was eager to learn a lot about music, and then learnt how to produce music from O-Town’s Emeka Infiniti.

In 2004, Don Jazzy and his very close friend collaborated to form a record label they both named Mo’Hits Records.

By 2006, Don Jazzy released two albums: Rundown/Funk You Up, and No Long Thing.

They also worked on a third album titled “Curriculum Vitae”.

He also provided vocal backup for Kanye West and Beyonce on the song titled “Lift Off”, a single off the album titled “Watch The Throne”.

However, in 2011, Kanye West took Don Jazzy in as a music producer at Very Good Beatz.
