10. Nkem Owoh
The last, but certainly not the least actor on the list od highest paid Nigerian actors is Nkem Owoh. He’s famed as Osuofia, a comic act. In 2003, he was the main cast in the hit movie titled ” Osuofia in London”. The movie sold millions of copies across Nigeria.
He also earned cool cash from performing the song titled “I Go Chop Your Dollar”, a song that was particularly about advance fee fraud in Nigeria. In the movie titled “The Scammer”, the song, “I Go Chop Your Dollar” was played as Theme Soundtrack. Nkem Owoh Portrayed the role of a scammer, a fraudster in the movie.
Unfortunately, the song was tagged illicit and was banned by to Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). Nkem Owoh was arrested in 2007 at the Bijlmermeer neighborhood in Amsterdam after the Apollo Operation by the Dutch Police.
The Apollo Operation carried out by the Dutch police was simply an investigation which spanned 7 months. Before he was arrested alongside 111 other persons, he was performing a music event in the neighborhood.
The reason for arrest was immigration violations and lottery fraud. Matters continued and the issue was on the top spot of several newspapers and online news outlets until Nkem Owoh was eventually released.
Again another case of assault came up as he was kidnapped in the eastern part of Nigeria in November 2009. The kidnappers demanded that a 15 million naira ransom be delivered before he be released.
Fortunately, the kidnappers got less greedy and released him after they got a total ransom fee of N1.4 million naira which was delivered by his family. Should we say Nkem Owoh has gone true a lot in his career to land him on the list? That’s the absolute truth.
