Tompolo was birthed as Government Ekpemupolo on the 12th of April, 1971. He was born to a royal family known as Okerenoko residing in Gbaramatu Kingdom, Delta State, Nigeria. He obtained primary education at the Okepopo Primary School, Warri, Delta State.
He was is a former militant and Nigerian businessman and billionaire. As a Nigerian militant in the past, he led the Movement for the Emancipation of Niger Delta back in the days. He operated for years in different guerilla groups as a militant commander in Nigeria Delta.
These guerilla groups were in serious agitation against the exploitation of Niger Delta by both the Federal Government and international oil companies established in Nigeria Delta. Tompolo got rich extremely from Oil Bunkering. He played a major part in establishing the Movement for the Emancipation of Niger Delta (MEND) and his fighters.
On October 4, Tompolo accepted amnesty to let peae reign and allow the Federal Government and oil companies in the community take on community developmental projects. This quickened the formation of the MEND in many ways. Soon after, he emerged high commander of the Movement for the Emancipation of Niger Delta (MEND) and sufficed the group with sophisticated weapons of war.
He was a successful militant as he had thousands of militants under his control and was fearless in countering the Federal Government countless times. During his time as commander of the MEND, members of the group who wanted to surrender could be granted amnesty by the Federal Government.
