R2Bees is a conglomeration of two Ghanaian hip hop musicians both of whom has a combined net worth of $10 million dollars. The music recording duo has Faisal Hakeem and Rashid Mugeez as the composers and makeup of the combination.
Faisal and Rashid were birthed in Tema (Eastern Accra in Ghana) and were brought up in Tema. They’re both cousins who went to same school and have lived together for decades.
The duo started with representing their school in music competitions during their early days and they got the chance to contest in Kashara, a radio competition than has become very known locally.
They got bold at the competition and bagged the winner’s medal. Upon winning the Kashara radio competition, they went to perform at organized events.
At this time, they went by the stage name known then as Camp Yard. They had officially released a first track in 2008 they titled “Yawa Gal”. The single got out and hit gold after weeks of going live.
It was a hit!. Following their first hit, they dropped another hit which stayed several weeks topping charts across Ghana, I Dey Mad.
They released a third single in 2010 titled “Kiss Your Hand” featuring Wande Coal, a popular Nigerian singer. Their first album titled Da Revolution, which had 17 tracks including Yawa Gal, Kiss Your Hand, I Dey Mad and other new songs.
The album contained songs that had already been previously produced and songs that had no been released (new songs). The album was produced by Killbeatz and had appearances from high class music stars across Africa, including Sarkodie, Kwaw Kese and Wande Coal.
A second album went live in 2013 titled Refuse to be Broke – Da Revolution II. The album had 19 tracks, was a big hit and featured appearances from Wizkid, Voicemail, Davido and a few others and was produced by Killbeatz who at the time was their official producer.
In 2014, the duo dropped a hit titled Lobi and later that year in September, the music video was produced. R2Bees got a nomination in 2013 at the BET Awards 2013 and were signed to StarBoy Records in 2016 under the tutelage of Wizkid.
