About Runtown

Runtown is a Nigerian artiste and songwriter birthed on the 19th of August 1989 in Enugu State, Nigeria. He was brought up in both Lagos and Abuja States and rounded off his primary education in Lagos State.

He lost his father when he was still a teenager, and after this unfortunate incident, he left for Abuja with his mother. His mother was caring, she was a worker with he Ministry of Health, Nigeria.

Days went past and Runtown had the mindset that he would become a professional basketball player in time to come. At the time of this writing, Runtown is studying Fashion Management in New York City, at a very credible fashion school. In 2007, his first single self-titled "Runtown" went live.

The single was produced by Soge and wasn't much of a huge success. In 2010, the video to a single he released was directed by IvanEdd Films. The single was titled "Forever" and was aired pretty much loudly. In 2012, Runtown got featured on a song by Laza Morgan.

The song was titled "High On You", and was sitting on top positions in the Caribbean music charts. Runtown was also popular enough at that time and got to be featured by J.Martins; a popular Nigerian music act. The single on which Runtown was featured happens to be a track from J.Martin's album "Elevation". The single was titled "Tonight".

Fascinatingly, Runtown has worked with Phyno on a single which was produced by WizzyPro, a top Nigerian producer. The song was titled "Anamachi Versace" and was a big success.

In 2014, Runtown collaborated with topnotch American-born Nigerian musician Davido on a hit single titled "Gallardo". The song which was produced by T-Spize went on to win both parties an award as the Best Collaboration of the Year at the Nigerian Entertainment Awards, 2014.

The video was directed by Clarence Peters and was also a nice one as it got several hundred thousands of views months after it was released. The video also featured appearances by Nigerian indigenous rapper Phyno, Nigerian reggae/dancehall singer Patoranking and Skales, popular Nigerian rapper and singer.

Luckily and through efforts and help from his friend, Runtown signed a career-transforming music deal with Eric-Manny Entertainment. Under the music label he released hit singles "Dommot" and "Successful". These singles were critically acclaimed and aired on famous radio stations frequently; this was the turning point to his musical career.

Soon after, he got featured alongside Patoranking and Skales on "Emergency", a single by WizzyPro, produced by WizzyPro and released on the 2nd of November, 2014. Finally in 2015, the debut album of the music star, Runtown was released. The album was titled "Ghetto University" and was released on the 23rd of November, 2015.

The album was a huge hit and featured Cameos from Wizkid, Uhuru, DJ Khaled and indigenous rapper Phyno. On the 4th of November, 2016, Runtown released the African-beauty-inspired single titled "Mad Over You" which sat on the 38th spot on the Billboard Twitter Top Tracks chart.
