Metallica is an American Heavy Metal music band founded in 1981 by Lars Ulrich and James Hetfield, the drummer and vocalist/guitarist of the Heavy Metal band respectively. Metallic is was formed in Los Angeles, California and they're now considered one of the big four music bands that forms Thrash Metal due to their music strength, rhythms and instrumentals. Other banda that forms the Thrash Metal alongside Metallica are Megadeth, Slayer and Anthrax.

Metallic is made up of founders Lars Ulrich (drummer), James Hetfield, Kirk Hammett (lead guitarist), and Robert Trujillo (bassist). Ex-members of the band are the founder of the Megadeth: Dave Mustaine, Ron McGovney, Cliff Burton and Jason Newsted. Metallic's first five albums were critically acclaimed and aired. They gained fame and several millions of fans in the underground music community in their rising times.

In 1986, Metallic released one of history's most influential and heavy thrash metals album titled "Master of the Puppets". In 1991, the American heavy metal band released a self-named album titled "Metallica" which would later go on to sell 16 million copies in the United States alone, achieve commercial success and reach a larger range of audience.

The album emerged the Bestselling Album of the SoundScan era after selling over 16 million copies and being appealing to a broader audience. The band, Metallica, did other genres of music until 2008 when they went back to their basic genre, heavy metal, with the release of the album "Magnetic Death" which as equally appraised.

In the year 2000, Metallica alongside many other artistes filed a lawsuit against Napster; a file sharing service that, at that time, shared artistes creative works without permission. In 2003, Napster turned a premium service that required users to pay before use. This was after Metallica led the case of copyright infringement against them and a settlement had been reached on the case.

The band had internal problems despite their initial success, they also had issues with the production of their 8th music album, St. Anger, produced in 2003. The difficulties they faced producing the 8th album and the internal problems within the metal band formed the subject play of the 2004 documentary titled "Some Kind of Monster".

They became part of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2009 and in 2013, they got featured in the IMAX Concert Film titled "Metallica: Through the Never", a film with the screenplay written by Metallica. They also performed the film live as opposed to a real sensational, suspenseful storyline. Metallic up to this day has dropped 10 successful studio albums, 1 cover album, 5 EPs, 4 live music albums, 39 music videos, and 37 singles.

They've been nominated for 23 Grammy awards and have won 9 Grammy awards. Begining with their self-named album produced in 1991, subsequent studio albums have peaked #1 on the Billboard 200. Globally, the heavy metal band based in America has sold over 120 million records and they're considered one of the most successful music bands of all time.
